Super Bowl quick hits . . .
Santonio Holmes' game-winning was a beauty and deserves to be on future "Top 10 Super Bowl Moments" lists, but it isn't close to the David Tyree catch a year ago. Admittedly, Tyree' catch was more luck than skill, but it may never be surpassed in SB history. Personally, I give quarterback Ben Roethlisberger more credit for the game-winning play. It was a perfect throw under tremendous pressure .
XLIIII was a classic game. Maybe No. 1 all-time in drama. But it was not a well played game. Arizona racked up 106 yards on 11 penalties. Neither team could run the ball. Too many missed tackles to count. Too many personal foul from selfish players. A horrible pass by Kurt Warner that resulted in James Harrison's 100-yard interception return for a TD . . .
The game, by the way, was a thing of beauty compared to the commercials. The best (?) of the 30-second spot was barely above average ...
If I'd been Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin I'd have gambled on fourth-and-goal from inside the 1 in the first quarter. Tomlin settled for a chipshot field goal. It nearly came back to bite the Steelers. I know, I know. This wasn't horseshoes . . .
I'll still take Tom Brady and Peyton Manning ahead of Big Ben, but he has moved up several notches on my list for his season-long clutch performances . . .
Am I the only human being who missed the opening kickoff because I was watching Kenny Perry win the PGA Tour's FBR Open on the third playoff hole on CBS? . . .
Finally, the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters got it right and put the late Bullet Bob Hayes in the Hall . . .
For all of you non-gamblers, take note the game was a dud for gambling crowd. With the Steelers favored by 7 points, those who took the Cardinals didn't have to sweat the last 3 minutes . . .
